Manager GRAHAM KELLY opens by describing 'a very tough few weeks for everyone' and bitter disappointment at the previous week's result, then states the position plainly: 'With the transfer embargo in place we have a very tight squad for the remainder of the season.' Four Under-17s from the SJB Academy are named in the matchday panel, and Kelly argues these young players 'will hopefully be the future of the club for many years to come'.

Cork City arrive off two Champions League qualifying ties and a midweek win at Derry City, and Kelly concedes Bray will need their home form to hold. That season ended in relegation after a public dispute over unpaid players, which makes the programme a primary source for one of the grimmer episodes in recent League of Ireland history.
