At sixty pages this is a substantial issue, and the first of the season. The reason to own it is the history page. This was Linfield's first competitive visit to Oriel Park since the notorious European Cup tie of 1979 — played at one of the worst periods of the Troubles, against a backdrop of rioting before and after the match. Linfield took a 1-1 draw; Dundalk were then barred from hosting the second leg, and the return was played in Holland. The column records that the two clubs have met in friendlies since and that relations between them are now good, which is rather the point of the evening.

A first-hand club account of one of the most difficult fixtures in Irish football, written the night the two met again.
