A programme for a club that no longer exists. Sporting Fingal were founded in 2007, won this final, and were wound up in 2011 — four seasons from first to last. FAI PRESIDENT DAVID BLOOD writes: 'Sporting Fingal are, of course, the youngest club to be competing in the League of Ireland. The club has just completed its second season in the league and securing its place in the FAI Ford Cup final after just a short existence really is a remarkable testament to LIAM BUCKLEY, his players and everybody who puts in so much work behind the scenes.' Sligo Rovers were managed by PAUL COOK.

It is also one of the first big occasions at a new ground: 'The Tallaght Stadium first opened its doors in March and today, eight months later, we will put the finishing touches to the 2009 season in this wonderful venue. South Dublin County Council must be congratulated for building this facility, which has already become such an important part of the Irish sporting landscape.'

The programme prints the FULL FAI COUNCIL — the Board of Management with president David Blood, vice-president Paddy McCaul and chief executive JOHN DELANEY, and the National Council with a named representative for every league club. Cork City's representative is listed as NICK LEESON, the former Barings Bank trader, then chief executive at Turner's Cross.

Sporting Fingal won 2-1 with a goal in the last minute of stoppage time.
