Official Hibernian FC matchday programme for the Scottish Premier League: Hibernian v Aberdeen and Partick Thistle, 3 and 5 May 1980, at Easter Road Park, Edinburgh. The final double issue of the 1979-80 season, covering two matches: Aberdeen on Saturday 3 May 1980 at 3.00pm and Partick Thistle on Monday 5 May 1980 at 7.30pm. Cover price 17p. The cover picture shows Craig Paterson facing up to the rising star of the St Mirren team, Peter Weir, in the midweek home victory (Evening News picture). 'From Manager Willie Ormond': it took a lot of fighting spirit to pull back a goal against an accomplished St Mirren team on the Tuesday and it was gratifying to finish with a win. Since being given charge of the team they have battled furiously in every game; some of the results have been good and the midweek one fell into that category. Sympathy for Bobby Hutchinson, who took a terrible knock on the nose and will bear the effects for some time. The short-term target is to wind up the season with a hat-trick of wins by beating Aberdeen and Partick Thistle — maximum encouragement for next season. Although Hibs took a point from Aberdeen in Ormond's first game, they recovered to take over as championship favourites: Alex Ferguson has his team full of ambition, especially after their draw at Tannadice, and they did extremely well to overtake Celtic — but they will be feeling the tension whereas Hibs' players are under no strain now. 'Hibs' Record' covers the closing Premier League fixtures with line-ups and scorers, and an appearances-and-goalscorers table for the full season's squad. Chairman and managing director Tom Hart; manager Willie Ormond. Hibernian Football Club Ltd, Easter Road Park, Edinburgh EH7 5QG. Founded 1875.
