Official Hibernian FC matchday programme for the Scottish Premier League: Hibernian v Aberdeen, 12 October 1985, at Easter Road Park, Edinburgh. Cover price 50p, described on the cover as a Match Magazine. Season's sponsors Insave Associates Ltd; match sponsor Renault; the Fine Fare League roundel appears on the masthead. The cover picture shows wing wizard Joe McBride squaring up to Motherwell defender Ian Macleod. 'Blackley's Back-Chat' from manager John Blackley: the last few weeks have been an important spell for the club and the players have shown great character in the last three league matches, picking up five points. He is much happier with the defence, which now has a balanced look about it — he has always said that if they could close the back door there wouldn't be much wrong. The match against Dundee United was a difficult one but they worked really hard, created a fair number of chances and took a good point; it also saw the return of Ralph Callachan in a first-team jersey, a very experienced player who gives them another option, and it is just sad that he missed the first part of the season. The more alternatives the better, and there is now healthy competition for places. Aberdeen will be a tough fixture, but the match gives Hibs a chance to judge for themselves how much improvement they have made since the opening day of the season. Chairman Kenny Waugh; directors Gregor Cowan, John Douglas, Alan Hart and Alan Young; manager John Blackley; assistant manager Tommy Craig; physiotherapist Tom McNiven; youth coach Gordon Neely.
