Tommy Horan's editorial is the reason to own it. Sligo were between managers — 'the most eagerly awaited announcement in Irish soccer in quite some time. Four candidates all with good credentials, all waiting to take the hot seat at the Showgrounds' — and he argues for patience: 'We must at least have someone who is going to give at least two or three years service to the club and not come here now and leave again the middle of next year. It has happened with McSTAY, SANCHEZ and COTTERILL, all shocked departures even if it has brought its rewards.' Three managers in four years, and all three went on to bigger jobs.

He also reports four points from two away games and 'the demolition of Shamrock Rovers', and mounts a sustained complaint about RTÉ: six months into the season without an outside broadcast at the Showgrounds while TG4 shows Spanish football, and a promised Irish soccer magazine programme cut to once a fortnight.
