A Munster derby with a semi-final place at stake, and the two clubs had met in the league only the week before. The committee notes record that the ground's safe holding capacity had to be limited on the instructions of the FAI, the Gardaí and the local authorities, so Cork's ticket allocation was cut — and that the game was televised, giving the club a chance to show a national audience what a Munster derby looks like. Daryl Kavanagh is congratulated on being named player of the previous round.
