The last programme of Waterford United's season, and the club went into the tie three goals down from the first leg. Chairman Bertie Rogers writes candidly about a campaign that promised more than it delivered: manager Tommy Lynch had been appointed only eight months earlier on a two-year brief to win promotion, and Rogers argues the club is still on target despite taking too few points off the top five. He recalls the 1995 Shield Final against Bray Wanderers and hopes for a reversal of that result. Dundalk, managed by Eddie May, are welcomed on their first visit to the Regional Sports Centre.
