'Up Front' from Ian Porterfield: supporters will feel much the same as the players and himself in welcoming the fact that there is a Scottish Cup semi-final to look forward to at Dundee on 9 April — it is of no real consequence whether the opposition is Dundee or Dundee United, or whether the venue is Tannadice or Dens Park, because at the semi-final stage they all come much the same. In the last couple of games the Dons have scored five goals against Clyde and earned a two-goal win away to Dundee United, a nice psychological boost. Plus points include the goalscoring form of Davie Dodds despite his lengthy enforced absences, the return of Neil Simpson to give valuable contributions, and the steady settling in of Charlie Nicholas, who scored a very good first goal — 'there's no way we have seen the best of him yet but it will come with a little patience and understanding'. Simpson's enthusiasm and determination in the win at Tannadice were impressive. Celtic's win over Rangers has folk concluding the Championship is nearly settled; 'I certainly don't take the view that our part in it is over'.
