He apologises to Finn Harps for the Monday date — 'With our UEFA Cup game being played last Thursday, it was vital for the Cork City players to get as much rest as possible' — and tells a story against himself. After the Setanta Cup game with Portadown a group of supporters had gathered outside the ground calling for his head; when the club chaplain, Bishop John Buckley, walked towards them 'they changed the chant from "Chairman Out" to "Chaplain Out". He said with a broad smile, "only in Cork could they come up with this!" as he had only agreed to become chaplain the week before.'
