PAT O'DONOVAN on the economics of League of Ireland football in the recession: 'the financial implications of running a team are huge and the club cannot exist unless you have lots of goodwill, financial support from sponsors, supporters club and co-operation from your players... The recession has hit everybody including League of Ireland gates and I don't believe there are more than 2 to 3 teams breaking even from the 22 teams involved in the League of Ireland.'

And then the announcement, made in a matchday programme: 'We will begin work on our new stadium in April and will most certainly be playing in Bishopstown next August with facilities second to none in the League, except for our friends from Shelbourne who have the best in Ireland.' He thanks the Munster FA for its help over previous seasons and wishes Limerick City well in the Premier Division.
