It carries an unusual production note. 'This issue of the DFC Magazine is a bit different than normal — as we are printing it on the day of our UEFA Champions League match with Rosenborg. Due to this match, and Shamrock Rovers' match in the UEFA Europa League, we are not 100% sure when this match will be played! So, we have done our best to produce a good programme that we can use regardless of the date of the game.'

The editorial is then given over to a history of the fixture, and it is a good one: the 1-0 win over Rovers in the 1958 FAI CUP FINAL thanks to a goal by HUBIE GANNON; the 7-0 beating at Milltown in 1964 when Dundalk were champions; the great battles under JIM McLAUGHLIN, who managed both clubs; the Christmas Eve match of 1978 when LEO 'POP' FLANAGAN scored a dramatic late winner over JOHNNY GILES' Rovers side; DERMOT KEELY, who also managed both, winning his first title with the Hoops in 1987 — the season Dundalk were beaten 5-0 at Milltown then ended Rovers' unbeaten run at Oriel Park under TURLOUGH O'CONNOR, with the two clubs meeting in both cup finals that year; and the 2010 match in which a MATTHEW TIPTON hat-trick inspired a 5-1 win months after a 4-0 defeat in Tallaght.
