Chairman EAMON NAUGHTON writes: 'This will be the first such cup final I will have attended in the role of Chairman of the eircom League of Ireland, having been elected to that position recently. I have taken over the position from PADDY McCAUL, who was recently elected Vice-President of the Football Association of Ireland... In the eleven months since the merger between the league and the FAI, we have made great progress. Our league is now in a very healthy state and will continue to grow and expand over the coming seasons.'

'Welcome from the Director' is by FRAN GAVIN, ten months into the job that he would hold for more than a decade: 'Attendances have increased by one-third when compared to the 2006 season - this is due to the terrific work of NOEL MOONEY and his team of Club Promotion Officers... Through the commencement of the Futsal League this season and the A Championship next season, we will see two new levels of competition introduced to the eircom League of Ireland.' He sets out three priorities: 'increasing supporter numbers, improving the facilities for those supporters and increasing the number of elite young footballers playing in the league.' Noel Mooney later became chief executive of the FAI.
