FAI PRESIDENT TONY FITZGERALD: 'In the men's final, Cork City and Dundalk meet in the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup final for the third consecutive year... STEPHEN KENNY's Dundalk side will be out to avenge their FAI Cup final defeat last year. They've also had another fantastic season, finishing second in the league.' He welcomes 'Cork City WFC to their first FAI Cup Final' and UCD Waves 'back to the Aviva Stadium having lost the final in 2014'.

The sponsor's message, by PAUL HENDERSON of DMG Media Ireland, records a first: 'For the first time in the history of this competition, the final will be contested by the same two sides for the third season in-a-row.' He also notes that BLUEBELL UNITED of the Leinster Senior League, the non-league club to go furthest in the competition, received a €2,000 bursary.

Match officials — men's final: referee PAUL McLAUGHLIN. Women's final: an all-female team, referee PAULA BRADY with assistants Natasha Valentini and Olivia Sneyd and fourth official MICHELLE O'NEILL, the FIFA assistant who has since officiated at World Cups.

Cork City won this one 1-0 after extra time to complete the double.
