1993/94 was the season SLIGO ROVERS WON THE FAI CUP, so this is a tie on the way to the trophy. The manager is WILLIE McSTAY, the Celtic defender, and his notes are written in advance of a trip to Athlone: 'This evening we temporarily put aside the pressures of the League and host old rivals Cobh Ramblers. I wasn't too long in Sligo when I was made aware of the Rovers-Cobh Cup saga in 1983.'
