An unusually frank club programme. Editor Joe Doherty opens: 'I don't think any Harps supporters will have been too disappointed to have seen the back of the year 2000. After all, it was one of the worst years in the short history of this club with both on and off the field problems.' GAVIN DYKES had resigned as manager as the year turned, with a couple of pages inside devoted to his record.

On the finances he is equally direct: a group of supporters had pledged money to the end of the season, keeping the squad together, and the board's decision to cut the wage bill 'was by no way a defeatist attitude' — 'If the club hadn't cut back in their weekly outgoings, chances were that there might not have been a club here next season.' Fifteen games remained, 'every one of them a Cup Final'. The page carries a disclaimer that the views are not necessarily the board's.

The roll of honour panel records the club as founded in 1954 and elected to the League of Ireland in 1969, FAI Cup winners in 1974 and RUNNERS-UP IN 1999, Irish News Cup winners in 1998-99, and veterans of the Cup Winners' Cup and three UEFA Cup campaigns.
