Each copy is individually numbered in red on the cover, because the programme doubled as a raffle ticket: 'If the number of this programme matches the number drawn you have won a… COLOUR TELEVISION', sponsored by View with McHugh of Lower Main Street, Ballybofey.

Editor Joe Doherty catches the scale of the occasion: 'It's been seventeen years since Harps have appeared in a cup semi-final and almost a quarter of a century ago since we last won one. Now with a home draw, something that was not even thought about the last time we played in the semis, the advantage (if any) is with us as we welcome DAMIEN RICHARDSON and his Shelbourne team to Finn Park.' He notes Shelbourne had not beaten Harps at Finn Park in two seasons and had never beaten them in the FAI Cup, so 'the omens look good for a Harps team to make an FAI Cup Final appearance for only the second time in their history' — before conceding that manager CHARLIE McGEEVER 'knows that history means nothing when it comes down to the big occasion'.

The club directory names the captain as Jonathan Speake, later the club's manager.
