Irish Arts Review magazine special edition, 2004: 50th anniversary of the Texaco Children's Art Competition – children's art in Ireland, prizewinners and celebrations
A special edition of the Irish Arts Review celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Texaco Children's Art Competition. It was published in 2004 on behalf of Texaco (Ireland) Limited.
The competition began in 1955 and became one of Ireland's longest-running arts sponsorships, drawing entries from schoolchildren across the country for five decades. Its entrants include future professional artists, among them the sculptor Janet Mullarney.
The cover reproduces a child's acrylic painting of flowers from the 2004 competition. Inside are prizewinning children's artwork and photographs from the 50th anniversary celebrations.
For collectors of Irish art ephemera, teachers and art educators, former entrants, and anyone interested in children's art and art education in Ireland.
